Good Evening! I just spent 4 wonderful hours with a delightful group of folks at our monthly stroke support group. Tonight was a busy meeting with our volunteer orientation (we are beginning bedside visitations) and that was followed by our annual "Dinner and a MovieNight" - good food, good friends and sharing the challenges and blessings of living with life and circumstances after stroke. We would love more people to join us - please contact us here or by phone - "Inch by Inch Stroke suport group at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center.

Dear Heidi,
I am sixteen years old and my dad had a stroke six years ago. My family and I moved to Balimore last year. My parents are divorced. I spend most of my time at my dads house along with two younger siblings. My mom works full time and attends college full time. Are there any volunteers or events/activities for my dad to help relieve the burden of feeling the need to be with him every spare moment that I have? He needs friends too and all he has is us. Therefore, in the year that I have been out here he is my only friend as well. I long to be a teenager (at least to some degree) without feeling major guilt for doing so. I saw you mentioned an annual dinner/movie night, did this event consist of the stroke survivors or caregivers only or both?
Sincerely,
Amarae

P.S. we live in Severn MD.
